McConaughey: 'I Still Love Cruz'

HOLLYWOOD - Matthew McConaughey is proud of his break-up from Spanish actress Penelope Cruz because they have become firm friends.

The stars fell for each other while they were shooting action adventure Sahara in 2003, but the romance didn't last--and they split earlier this year.

But philosophical McConaughey has taken a lot from the split, insisting they managed to end their romance on good terms.

He says, "Break-ups suck, but it was true and honest and we both still respect each other and we're still friends.

"That is the most that I could ask for out of any kind of break-up... We still care about each other, we still love each other."
