I've noticed how IRL she seems to start taking after whatever character she's recently been submerged in playing onscreen. She's kind of like a sponge that way. Six years? That must have been off/on since she's fucked around with and been linked to more than one person in that time.
I have to admit she does a bang up job of playing that bitchy, crazy-ass wife no. 2 in Big Love.
