Re: Aretha Franklin proud to be a 'big woman'
I suspect her self-esteem is so low (hence the over-eating) she simply doesn't care if she is putting her health at risk. It then becomes a vicious circle.
OK - I have a question to all you posters who either are, or have been overweight. And I mean SERIOUSLY overweight, not just a few pounds. Be honest now, did/do any of you truly feel happy about yourself? Honestly. I've been there and I used to bluster about how I accepted myself; how it was all about the person inside, not the outside; how I didn't want to be judged or stereotyped; how 'empowered' I was by being 'true to myself' blah blah blah. It was total bullshit. I was in fact DESPERATELY unhappy, depressed even. My misery about my weight consumed every waking moment. I hated myself.
