For me it's allergy related.
Whey is actually really a great source of protein - soy less so but it is hyped to be just as good. Soy contains plant estrogen and in small doses it's fine but considered everything you buy in bottle or box contains some form of soy you are be exposed to a lot of unneccessary estrogen.
There's also pea protein whihc is pretty good - some have soy some do not.
What I do like about egg white protein is that is dissolves very easily and I can be lazy and not want to blend it.
You could probably loose it just by cutting out any extra sugars, lowering your grains and upping your greens. Depends on what you are doing currently really and if you've never tried it Pilates is awesome for your core muscles.
