Default Re: Catherine Zeta-Jones - Look who's forgotten her lines

Excuse me, but I AM Mexican. I'm not a tourist. I go to Mexico City and Guadalajara every year and I live 15 minutes away from the Mexican border now. It's one thing to be a traveler, it's another to actually live there whether it be as a normal person or if you're filming a movie for weeks or months at a time...when you're there that long, you're just not drinking Margaritas and Tequila shots, snapping pics like a tourist--you're actually living there. I grew up in that culture, I speak the language and believe me, you don't want to be famous and driving around in a pick-up truck or some Volvo because it IS very dangerous. You don't even have to be mega famous--just have some amount of money and you're a target. It's not just Mexican celebrities who are scared out of their ass--bankers, mayors, governors, news reporters, tv newscasters and even every day citizens are kidnapped and shot down in broad daylight. It's crazy. Even some of the cops are corrupt.

Catherine Zeta-Jones is famous and known because of her work and her face...not because of the type of vehicle she's in. And just because she has a limo, I don't think she considers herself 'better' than Mexicans. With her level of global fame, I would too. That's like going to Iraq and driving around in a Ford truck--screw that, put me in the tank! There is NO WAY Catherine could just walk around among the normal people. She can't drive around in a taxi or a 'regular' car because she's too well-known. Maybe someone like me could get away with that and try to blend in because I am Mexican and I'm not known, but someone with her fame would have a gun in her face and she'd be shoved in a car in a heartbeat. Having her own vehicle and driver might offer her a little more security--but not much unfortunately.
