I have no problem with people owning snakes since snakes that are most common as pets are small enough to fit in an aquarium.

Than you get douchebags like this...

Well, some people handle theirs more than others. Occasionally I take mine out when walking my dog in the summer (he's around my neck/shoulders). It's actually cool how many kids and parents are not afraid of him and the kids feel so brave when they pet him, lol. Everyone who has ever been scared to touch a snake is always pleasantly surprised and how much different it feels than they expected. They may still fear snakes, but tend to be less afraid after touching him and feel good about themselves for getting past it at least a little bit. They don't do tricks or come when you call but they are very cool to observe and extremely low maintenance. Once you buy they aquarium, dish, and lights you are set. Heat bulbs get changed less than once per year and I only have to buy a frozen rat to feed him every 2 or 3 weeks at most. In the event you want to travel, you can do so without making lots of arrangements for them, just make sure there is a huge bowl of water. If my snake went for 2 months without eating he would still survive fine, but that would be mean to let him be hungry.
