A good set of brushes makes a big difference in how your makeup looks. I invested in some about 10 years ago and was amazed at the difference. A good eyebrow brush is worth its weight in gold. I also prefer a sponge to using my fingers for makeup application, it goes on much more evenly. And putting a little foundation or power on eyelids sets the shadow and is a lot cheaper than buying unnecessary primer.

Buying good-quality, highly pigmented lipstick will make the colour last a lot longer.
