It's only when you run a header tool on the actual email that you discover where in the world the actual solicitation is coming from.
Also, every national tragedy in the US brings out a crop of scammers claiming to be from a legit charity such as the Red Cross asking for large donations for the victims of the tragedy. Be very careful who and how you donate.
