She could be into the second trimester, if they did the implantation early on. He might have wanted to make sure she'd take before they got engaged.
Everything has been announced before anyone would have thought to ask. It's not like Jennifer Garner and Britney, who tried to hide it until the media announced it. They've released press releases ahead of time.
I just can't imagine publically announcing a pregnancy until after you've cleared the first trimester.
