It was more or less love at first sight for him and they were both single when they met. Then he dithered and faffed around as usual so she married someone else. She would not have been considered a suitable bride anyway - she wasn't an aristocratic virgin - but if he'd stood up for himself and insisted she was the one for him I think they would have had a very long and happy marriage instead of the Diana Debacle the ensued. I'm glad they are happy now.
