Courtney Love regains full custody of daughter
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Singer Courtney Love has regained full custody of her 11-year-old daughter, her attorney said.
Love, 40, lost custody of Frances Bean Cobain, her daughter with late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, in 2003 after she overdosed on painkillers in front of the girl. The overdose occurred after Love allegedly broke into the home of her ex-boyfriend, music producer Jim Barber.
Her daughter had been staying with Love's stepfather and sister, but Love had daily contact with the girl.
Love regained custody Monday through a judge's ruling, said Love's attorney, Howard Weitzman.
Love, lead singer of the group Hole, said in a statement released by her attorney that she has "chosen to move forward with my life in a healthy and positive way."

However during 2004 she plays in Japan, had half a tour cancelled "due to legal woes" and then planned to do a mini-tour on CA.

Courtney Love Tour Derailed By Singer's Legal Woes
At least half of her planned shows are now listed as canceled.

Due to Courtney Love's legal problems, her summer tour plans appear to have been severely compromised.
Though the singer's representatives anticipated that the outing, which was to begin this week, would be "slightly delayed," about half of Love's scheduled concert dates are being listed not as postponed, but canceled.
Love turned herself in on a felony assault charge Friday (see "Courtney Love Turns Herself In To Face Assault Charge"), and while her court dates in Los Angeles and New York have had an impact in the routing of the tour, her rep said that the latest arrest wasn't to blame for her itinerary meltdown. "Due to legal reasons, not necessarily the latest charge, her lawyers have advised her to delay the tour," Love's spokesperson Jill Fritzo said.
In the meantime, 10 out of 21 shows are being listed as canceled on Ticketmaster's Web site. A separate non-Ticketmaster date — to be played as part of New York's Central Park Summerstage series — is listed as canceled on the Summerstage Web site.
Venues and promoters have sent out cancellation notices to their local papers. One such notice, sent out Monday (June 14) from the Boston Clear Channel office, confirmed that Love's planned June 23 performance at the club Avalon was canceled and that refunds would be available at point of purchase.
However, Love's camp insists the tour is being rescheduled for August. "We are working on new dates now," Fritzo said.

All this was in the same year that a bench warrent was issue due to her not turning up for court cases related to her drug use. So maybe she didn't have much choice but to stay in CA.... She was supposed to be in rehab during this time, for three months...

Photo by: POOL / GLOBE Pledging herself to sobriety, Courtney Love on Tuesday made her first public appearance since being hospitalized as a fugitive on July 9 and was sentenced to mandatory drug treatment in one of four criminal cases against her.
"I've got to stop drinking. It's gonna be fun," the rocker, 40, told a mob of reporters outside the Los Angeles courthouse following the brief proceeding. "It's profound, it's deep."
Judge Patricia Schnegg ordered Love, whose sentence was part of a plea bargain, to check into a court-approved rehab program for her entire 18-month probation. The entertainer must also submit to random drug testing and substance-abuse counseling, Reuters reports.

Rehab center is suing Courtney Love over fees
By Ashley Powers
March 10, 2007 in print edition B-4
A luxury rehabilitation center in Newport Beach has sued rocker Courtney Love for more than $180,000 for treatment she received after overdosing at a Hollywood nightclub in the summer of 2005.
Love, whose three-month live-in program at Beau Monde International began in August 2005, paid the center $10,000 after entering treatment, but has repeatedly refused to pay the rest, said the lawsuit, filed this month in Orange County Superior Court.
