I never thought he was conventionally handsome, but he had a
fantastic body (I love a man with heavy arms and shoulders) and was/is an intense and thoughtful actor. He had that 'it' factor, a certain kind of charismatic sex appeal that is hard to explain and very rare. I do wish he had let himself age gracefully, as well. No doubt he would have been just sexy and fuckable as he always was.
