That's funny. Until I graduated college and finally moved away from home, I'd only ever voted for Dem sheriffs. In the small town where I grew up, we only had one sheriff and he was a Democrat. No one ever ran against him. When he was finally unseated (ended up going to jail for extortion), the only candidates who would run were.... Democrats.
*sigh* Small town politics.
