i'm the first to oppose religion creeping into public life and i even agree with the french religious symbols ban but i have to agree with that particular court ruling. i don't think it's about religion at all IMO.
in that marriage, the girl told her husband she was a virgin. she knew he would only marry a virgin, as stupid as that is, let's leave that aside for a moment and look at the facts. therefore, she misrepresented herself and 'tricked' him.
i'd also agree if this was a catholic girl wanting to get her marriage annulled because her husband told her he was a practising catholic and she only wants to marry catholics. and then it turns out he was lying and was actually raised protestant and lied to her.
yes, it's retarded to only want to marry a virgin and the guy is probably a sexist douche asshole but if you agree to marry such an asshole and you promise him you're a virgin and he marries you based on that and then it turns out to be a lie, that's grounds for annulment IMO.
