Whether you have kids or not doesn't change the fact that parents decide if a kid has access to a computer in the home, if passwords are used, if computers are accessible when no parents are home, etc. Same with cell phones. If you insist that they neeeeeed one in case of emergencies, you can get a prepaid one that allows you to dial 911 or to program a parents number into it. Otherwise you're just letting them have one as a status symbol or because everyone else has one. I think parents have willingly abdicated much of their authority to their kids. Why? I don't know and I don't want to know.
