I'm not trying to be pedantic but then he's not homeschooled; at least not by UK defentions (and as far as I'm aware not by US standards either); homeschooling his where all schooling takes place in something other than a state/private schooling enviroment. Sometimes parents club together & have two of the same age together. If the kid goes to school/attends mainstream education they aren't home schooled.
I completely agree that these kids may well be home schooled in future, however, you find that a lot of home schooled kids attend specific events (sports clubs, etc i.e. Kidman/Cruise's kids at football...) and to learn how to interact with children their own age, etc.
