I think she did an erotic version of the Sleeping Beauty that starts where the fairy tale leaves off - except it isn't actually a kiss that wakes her. Ahem. Anyway, I agree with you lot - her first vampire books were great, but the excitement wanes after that. Oh, and re the movie, didn't she also take out a fullpage ad in Variety because she so disagreed with the casting of Tom Cruise as Lestat, then take out a second page after she saw it because she decided she was wrong. Batshit crazy is right.
