It should be immediately recognized that these children may have such severe emotional problems and measures involving therapy should be started as soon as possible. I understand a child not understanding attachment but if they had started working with this girl at age 3 they could have made some progress for this girl. Social services and all the professionals really failed.
You are hearing more and more about cases of severe emotional detachment in adoption; all the children from the Eastern European countries kept in those god awful orphanages are growing up.
