Veteran French actor GERARD DEPARDIEU may face prosecution after headbutting an Italian photographer who hassled him on a shopping trip in Florence with a mystery woman.

The victim, DARIO ORLANDI, has lodged an official complaint against the GREEN CARD star after he was allegedly knocked unconscious on 3 October (05) and forced to take four days off work.

Aggrieved Orlandi filed the complaint at a Florence police station citing, "threats, blows, injuries and defamation."

Last week (06OCT05), Depardieu declared he had no regrets over the incident, saying, "So my head delivers a single butt, which means two teeth less, and to tell you the truth, I'm pretty satisfied."

The mystery woman is thought to be Depardieu's 30-year-old fiancee.
