My impression is Lindsay has a hard time being alone, but when things go bad with men, she finds "safe" refuge with a woman. I put it in quotes because I know the hysterical laughter that will eminate from most guys.
The thing I don't get is why she keeps taking up with fugly dykes. I mean, all the lezzies in Hollywood and she goes for Ronson and Semel? Yeesh. Granted, Jessica Biel is out of the question after that GQ party blow up but come on... Kirstana Loken, maybe?
