My middle school had rules prohibiting cross dressing for this very reason.
The administration knew other students weren't mature enough to handle it and it was for the safety of the kids who were "different"- to prevent them from being bullied and ridiculed at school. If they wanted to cross dress in the privacy of their own home, that was one thing, but our dress code specifically prohibited it.
This is a sad situation. I feel for his family. I always knew that kids in middle school are mean, but I didn't think they would take it to this extent- actually killing someone because he is different.
