In 2001, she released her first single titled "Never". "Never" became Perez's first charting single of her career, peaking at #79 on the Billboard Hot 100. In April 2002, she released her first album titled Where You At?, headed by Los Angeles radio DJ and A&R music producer Mike Quinn under the label Powerhouse Records. Quinn also directed and produced 4 music videos for Perez. The videos made MTV and charted Perez on TRL. The album was a hit in the United States, and made her a celebrity in her hometown, inking a deal with Universal Records. It also summoned the attention of other major record companies.
In 2003, the re-worked version of the album (titled Angel) was released nationally on Powerhowse/Virgin/EMI. It charted and spawned two radio singles, "Angel" and " I Like It". "Angel", which was written in memory of her uncle, was released as the first single from the album. It peaked at number twenty on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first and lone Top twenty single. Her second single, "I Like It", did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
Perez released her third album titled I Pray. With the success of many albums, Perez is looking forward to giving back to the area where she discovered her own musical talent, her home town. She has since then signed with Upstairs Records and released a single called "Candy Kisses", which is receiving airplay. Candy Kisses is currently #17 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Chart. Her as-yet untitled debut for Upstairs should be released sometime in 2007.
